Hello, I am a psychologist at Amaha. I have completed my Masters in Applied Psychology from Tata Institute of Social Sciences. During my tenure I have had the opportunity to work at schools and hospitals, engaging with adolescents and adults. I have helped clients with anxiety, depression, stress management, relationship skills, loss of motivation among other concerns. As a psychologist, I believe that each individual is unique and experiences the world through their distinct lens. In the journey of making sense of the world around us, it is inevitable to stumble and feel stuck and lost. However, I believe that with the right support, people can overcome these hurdles. My approach is to provide a supportive, empathetic space where clients can explore their challenges and strengths without any judgement. In this safe and nurturing environment, clients are encouraged to delve deep into their experiences, understand their emotions, and uncover the underlying causes of their struggles. My goal is to facilitate a transformative process where clients feel heard, validated, and equipped to make meaningful changes that enhance their overall well-being and quality of life. I use an eclectic approach drawing dominantly from cognitive-behavioural therapies, humanistic and solution focused therapy. Outside of work, I enjoy embroidery and quiet mornings at Humayun’s Tomb. I also love to listen to Bollywood songs.

Why did you choose to become a therapist?

My journey to becoming a therapist began with my own mental health struggles. I felt stagnant and believed personal change was impossible. However, studying psychology in school transformed my perspective. Learning about defense mechanisms and cognitive therapies revealed the potential for growth within everyone. This realization, during my bachelor's studies, highlighted the transformative power of therapy. Witnessing its impact on people's lives inspired me. By the end of my degree, I was certain: I wanted to become a therapist.

"Urvashi has been incredibly welcoming and warm right from the beginning. Her approach instantly made me feel at ease, and over time, I’ve noticed a significant shift in my mindset. Compared to where I was when I first started sessions last year, I now feel far more self-aware, grounded, and positive. What really stands out about working with her is the level of comfort she brings into even the most difficult conversations. Sessions never feel heavy or overwhelming — instead, they feel natural and safe, almost like talking to someone who truly gets it. One of her greatest strengths is her ability to simplify things. She breaks down complex thoughts and emotions in a way that makes them easy to understand and work through. That sense of camaraderie and lightness she brings into the space makes a big difference in the healing process. I’m truly grateful for her support and would wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone looking for a therapist who is both insightful and deeply compassionate"- Anonymous
