At times, you may find yourself holding everything together on the outside while feeling quietly exhausted, anxious, or unsure where to begin on the inside. Therapy can be a space where you no longer have to carry that alone — a place to slow down, breathe, and gently untangle what feels overwhelming.
My work is grounded in a trauma-informed and queer-affirmative approach, which means we move at your pace. You are never expected to share more than you feel ready for. We begin by creating a sense of safety — in your body and in the room — and from there, we slowly make sense of the thoughts, emotions, and experiences that feel tangled. I aim to make therapy feel steady, collaborative, and deeply human. Your experiences — including those shaped by culture, gender, identity, and relationships — are respected and affirmed. I believe meaningful change grows from understanding and compassion, not judgment.
I am a licensed Clinical Psychologist and Clinical Hypnotherapist with several years of experience supporting individuals through overwhelm, loss, and transition. I have worked with adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship challenges, addiction, and significant life changes.
My therapeutic style integrates approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), mindfulness-based practices, and hypnotherapeutic techniques. Practically, this may involve noticing patterns of thinking that lead to spirals of “what-ifs,” learning skills to navigate intense emotional waves, and gently accessing deeper emotions that need care and attention. Through Emotion Focused Therapy in particular, we work toward understanding and transforming emotional experiences — not by pushing them away, but by listening to what they are trying to communicate.
Together, we can work on shifting patterns that no longer serve you, strengthening self-compassion, and building a more grounded, steady relationship with yourself. Therapy is not about fixing you — it is about supporting you in reconnecting with your resilience, clarity, and capacity for change.
Beyond my clinical practice, I am passionate about destigmatising mental health through open conversations and research. When I’m not in session, you’ll likely find me baking, exploring new food spots, or spending time with dogs — small reminders of how restorative ordinary moments can be.

FAQs
Why did you choose to become a therapist?
I have always been intrigued by the functioning of the human mind and human behaviour. Growing up in a fairly mixed neighbourhood, I vividly recall a gentleman who suffered such acute mood swings that his behaviour became extremely erratic over the course of a day. Sometimes, he was extremely affable, generous and would play with homeless youths, while on other days; he would rebuke the children and gesticulate wildly at them for disturbing the peace of the neighbourhood. I often wondered what precipitated these sudden mood swings and angry outbursts, but could never quite come up with a satisfactory explanation. Unbeknownst to me, my interest soon morphed into a growing passion and I soon developed an abiding interest in psychology and decided to pursue to be a therapist.

I have been seeing Shweta Gangopadhyay for therapy for almost a year now, and as I near the end of my sessions, I can say it has been a wonderful experience. She has helped me work through my challenges with professional guidance, making it easier for me to get back on track. No matter how many times I struggled with the same issues she always listened patiently without judgment and guided me on what to do next. I am truly grateful for her support and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a kind and understanding therapist.- Google Review
