“I have always been great with spades, it’s worked, but it isn’t working anymore, and it hurts now. Do I need to use another tool? Am I the problem?” Just a word of reaffirmation - the spade may not be the problem -life simply taught you to use it, and that’s not your fault. Therapy offers support when challenges call for a new tool, a different approach, or simply acceptance. Whether you’re a student with anxiety, a new mother facing sleepless nights, or someone who ‘has it all’ but feels something is missing, this is a space to be seen, heard, and validated. As a clinical psychologist, I support individuals through their unique struggles with a culturally sensitive approach that values each person’s context. Through our work together, I aim to create a safe space where we can explore these factors and also feel comfortable sitting in silence when we don’t have the answers. My therapeutic approach is primarily informed by cognitive models, with a strong emphasis on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and other third wave approaches. The underlying belief that one can have the darkest of thoughts yet not act on them, feels powerful and is what permeates through my approach with clients. In my non-work avatar, I find comfort in the simple pleasures of life. I’m a music enthusiast and a self-confessed retrophile, often reveling in the past and appreciating the nuances of older times. You’ll often find me writing, reading whatever I find, and experimenting in the kitchen whipping up dishes that are just as comforting. I also cherish the inner child in me by spending time with my child. If you're reading this and something resonated with you, I’d be happy to work with you and support you in this journey. See you in the therapy room!

Why did you choose to become a therapist?

A question often asked by many, and the answer evolves from year to year as I meet different people and learn from them as well. The initial reasons, like many, would be the fantasy of having this great ability to understand peoples’ minds that sets us apart from the mundane. However, it was a defining moment in my college that made me realize the power of listening, providing space and observing and how it could make someone feel visible, heard and also validated. This has motivated me to pursue this field and the answer to this day evolves with every client I meet. They give me a reason to continue being a therapist as this field teaches me the humility of being human and how our vulnerability that is generally viewed as an issue becomes our ally in transformation and thriving as an individual.
