If you’re reading this, perhaps a part of you wants to shift, or is tired of holding it all together alone. That part deserves to be seen and heard. The brain often remembers past hurts and tries to lead us back to the comfort of the familiar, even when we’re ready to grow beyond it. It’s okay if you’re not okay right now! You’ve already taken a courageous step by being here. I’m an RCI-licensed Clinical Psychologist and my training has taken me through diverse clinical settings like de-addiction & rehabilitation centres, general hospitals, and mental health OPDs, where I’ve worked with a wide range of concerns and communities. Clients often come to me when they’re overwhelmed, often sharing concerns like “I keep overthinking so much”, “nothing is going as per expectation”, “I feel lonely”, “I feel stuck in life”, “I’m scared to bring things up because it always turns into a fight”, “everyone sees me as confident, but inside I feel completely lost”. Many of them function well externally, but feel disconnected, stuck, or lost internally. In therapy, we work together to create a space for honest reflection, emotional processing, and gentle inquiry so you can begin to live with more clarity and awareness. My practice is eclectic, drawing from a range of approaches like Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Mindfulness-based practices to find what works best for each individual. For example, in CBT, we learn to identify dysfunctional thought patterns and find ways to make them more adaptive; in DBT, we learn to hold two truths at once, like; I’m doing my best and I need to do better’, while building skills to manage intense emotions. This holistic approach helps me support and empower my clients in a way that is as unique as they are. Outside of the therapy room, I turn to reading, swimming, and music for the same kind of grounding I offer to clients.

Why did you choose to become a therapist?

My path to becoming a therapist was deeply influenced because of a personal journey that began with my grandmother’s mental health challenges. Witnessing her struggles sparked in me a desire to understand the human mind and the layers that make us who we are. Alongside this, my early reading of a book, The Interpretation of Murder by Jed Rubenfeld, introduced me to the world of psychology, as it explored the intricacies of the human mind through the lens of Sigmund Freud. Beyond these initial influences, I found myself drawn to the idea of being a steady, compassionate presence in the lives of others, creating a space where individuals can explore their various ‘parts’ and bring about coherence for themselves. I guess I wanted to be in a position wherein I could empower individuals through the healing journey of therapy.

Shaheli brings a warm and calming presence to her sessions. She makes me feel heard and has a way of subtly setting up a safe, open space where I can speak without judgement. I've noticed that she tends to ask questions that stick and create room for introspection during the week—leading to insights that I can then bring back to her to work through collaboratively. Shaheli gives me the tools to break down big thoughts into less overwhelming blocks and uses gentle nudges as a way to drive change. Something I really appreciate is that she empowers me to make my own calls and is always willing to work at my pace. At bottom, she's a wonderful person to talk to, and I'd recommend her to anyone who feels that they're difficult to listen to and/or understand. - - Anonymous
