I have completed my Masters in Philosophy (M. Phil) in Clinical Psychology from Manipal Academy of Higher Education. I'm more inclined towards person-centered and existential approaches. I have gained experience in a multitude of conditions, most prominent being - Anxiety spectrum, Mood spectrum, OCD and Personality Disorders. I have also gained proficiency in working with children having behavioural and mood disturbances. My research interests lie in the areas of relationships, well being and personality concerns of individuals at-risk as well as special populations such as those having sensory deficits. I believe in working from a trauma informed lens for which I have received certified training and supervision. In addition I am also trained in more contemporary approaches such as Art and Color therapy. I truly believe and firmly stand by the idea of making choices and being able to make one for ourselves, thus propelling us to the idea of having a sense of autonomy and the ability to bring change. Hence, as a psychologist, I see myself being the catalyst in the journey of healing and change. Here, in the space of the therapeutic set up, I see it as a space for growth and facilitating the smallest effort, the client would like to be and see in themselves. A holistic approach, taking into consideration their social and cultural background and being sensitive to it, is something I ensure in my practice. I try to tailor the therapeutic relationship as per the client’s need and being sensitive to their ideas, thus fostering utmost well-being.

Why did you choose to become a therapist?

I resonate with the idea of therapy as being sailing through a huge ocean where we have a mix of highs and lows and that having an anchor can help us sail through. Perhaps my desire to become a therapist comes from this idea of trying to be a catalyst in the journey of individuals. Perhaps psychology and therapy opens the doors for assisting people in being the anchor in their process for growth and change. In addition, the field also allows me to gain knowledge and have continued learning with the help of extensive research, workshops, seminars, which fulfils my thirst for knowledge. As we all know, our behaviour is influenced by multiple factors and hence being a therapist allows me to gain a dual perspective, one of my own and that of the client. Lastly, one thing which I stand by is that experiences can change and that the process is to heal.
