Often, we’re faced with challenges that are bigger than we know how to navigate by ourselves. Despite our resilience and our courage, we may feel stuck and helpless. If there is anything I’d want you to know, it’s this – you are not alone. It takes great strength to seek help, and if you are here, it means you’ve taken the first big step: opening yourself to accepting that help. Hi, I’m Rida, a queer clinical psychologist (A) working from a trauma-informed and queer-affirmative lens. I hold space for all intersections of your identity that inadvertently impact your existence, whether positively or negatively. I believe no individual exists in a vacuum, and our society and culture at large shape us into who we are. I hold your lived experiences in the highest regard and truly understand how they show up in your grief, your actions and your needs. I am also sex-positive, polyamory-affirming and kink-informed, and always open to learning more about how different attachments look. I’ve done my Professional Diploma in Clinical Psychology and my M.A. in Clinical Psychology. I practice eclectic therapy, borrowing a little bit from different modalities to best tailor it to who you are, what you need, and what problems you’re currently facing. Outside of my professional work, I never have a dearth of hobbies to fulfil me. I enjoy painting, poetry, making jewelry, fashion, good food, reading, films, live music, skateboarding, growing my plants – this list could go on and on.

Why did you choose to become a therapist?

I’ve always been a people’s person – nothing makes me feel more human than being in the presence of other humans. I truly believe going through something completely isolated only makes it harder to become our best whole selves. My years of studying the subject and interacting with other people who are passionate about the subject have strengthened my resolve to become a therapist. Holding space for others’ stories and helping them feel understood while they untangle their pain has been more rewarding than anything I can imagine.
