5 years of experience

Hello and welcome! I earned my M.Phil in Clinical Psychology (First Class First) from the University of Calcutta in 2021. Throughout my journey in psychology, I have learned to respect people and view clients as individuals who are inherently capable. As psychologists, we serve as a guiding force, helping them recognize and harness their potential. I believe therapy is not only a treatment modality but is a journey of discipline where the unique challenges and needs of the clients are to be tailored with compassion, dignity and professionalism. My journey of the last few years has helped me gather extensive experience, where I have worked with clients experiencing anxiety concerns and panic attacks, concerns with mood, personality, relationship conflicts, concerns with obsessions and compulsions, trauma, abuse and geriatric concerns. My therapeutic approaches are evidenced based, majorly following the Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Model, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy Model, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy Model, with Trauma-Informed modes. Apart from my interests in Clinical Psychology, I am a dedicated researcher, currently pursuing my Ph.D from University of Calcutta. I also love teaching students which has driven me to have a few years of experience in academia as an Assistant Professor. Beyond therapy and research, I am fond of music and a keen learner of different musical instruments.

Why did you choose to become a therapist?

Since childhood, I had an innate tendency to be prosocial. Although during my adolescent years, I was not very clear regarding my aims and aspirations of life, I knew that I felt fulfilled by engaging in helping others. As I grew, the contributions of Sigmund Freud in Psychology intrigued me and attracted my interest in the concept of ‘wounded healer’. This helped me answer my questions about my existence and I knew that I wanted to be a Psychotherapist. I believe that the essence of life and living is in connections, I feel spiritually enhanced whenever I connect with people, and I can learn so much from them which is beyond any book or theory.
