I think I became a therapist because I wanted to be the kind of person I needed when I was younger, although my earliest dreams were of being a chef or a painter; by the age of 10, I was cooking full meals (well, almost!) for my family. I desired to be visible in people's lives, and lending a metaphorical shoulder to others was easy. Maybe I was looking for one too! Though I eventually chose to be a therapist, the same creativity, care, and curiosity that once filled my gas stove now infuse my therapeutic practice, with presence, mindfulness, and the courage to keep learning about possibilities that can exist.
