I have always found myself being drawn to narratives of people. Pain and suffering, while being universal, has an enormous impact on mundane day-to-day life. While none of us can entirely free ourselves from these burdens, they become lighter when we know we're not alone, when we feel safe in the presence of another person. The journey of being there with someone, holding space for their vulnerabilities, and witnessing how they transform their pain into strength, is what drew me to this profession. As Carl Rogers once said, “I rejoice at the privilege of being a midwife to a new personality - as I standby with awe at the emergence of a new self and person”.
