I graduated from M.Phil in Clinical Psychology in 2018, and have spent time teaching psychopathology and clinical skills along with psychotherapeutic practice post licensure. While I was trained in Cognitive Behavioral therapy and its extensions such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), over time I have found myself taking keen interest in the therapeutic alliance and dynamics of human life. I strongly believe that our childhood experiences and relationships with attachment figures shape our reality today, and we unconsciously repeat and circle back to previous patterns of coping. I have worked extensively with individuals who have had traumatic experiences, mood dysregulations, personality disorders and sexual dysfunctions. One can expect therapy with me to be long term, as I believe that durable changes occur with time. My work primarily targets developing insight, where I aim to establish a safe and powerful space with my patient in order to develop an understanding of how they relate with various people and systems around them.

Why did you choose to become a therapist?

During my novice years in the field, I planned to become a researcher rather than a therapist. The mandatory therapist posting during my post graduation made me realise the power of psychotherapy; and its role in increasing insight and change in perspectives. During my licensing course, I read more about the experience of psychotherapy and mechanisms in which change occurs within an individual, which made me realise that my strengths in communication and sensitivity may be better suited for therapy. Over time, I realised the nobility of the profession and the amount of work put in for our professional development to be genuine and sensitive individuals.

This is my first time at therapy and I had very skeptical of the decision, but I can't express enough how much it has helped me in understanding myself, Gautam has been there in the way i needed. Have learnt so much about myself and regain some faith in people. He is very professional and helps you channelize your emotions and bring an awareness to it. Looking forward to this journey with him and Amaha- Google Review
