I choose to become a therapist largely because of the positive influence my school counsellor had on me growing up. During a challenging time in my life, I had the opportunity to work with someone who created a truly safe and supportive space for me to explore my feelings and experiences. That experience had a profound impact on me and showed me the power of having someone listen, understand, and offer guidance without judgement. It made me realise how important it is to provide others with a space where they can feel heard, validated, and empowered to work through their challenges. Being that kind of safe space for others is something I find deeply fulfilling, and it's one of the main reasons I pursued therapy as a career. I want to offer the same kind of support that helped me, helping others navigate their own journeys toward healing and growth.
