I strongly believe in neuroplasticity, and thus the ability of people to learn new skills. In this way, one can literally build the neural connections that promote resilience. I think it is very important to educate my client about their capacity to alter unhealthy behaviours and cognitive distortions. I usually follow a person-centered approach with my clients. The mind and body are very closely connected and so my work weaves cognitive and mindfulness based methods together. As a Clinical Psychologist, I have worked with individuals suffering from depression, bipolar disorder and anxiety related conditions such as social anxiety and generalized anxiety over virtual as well as offline mediums. I have also had the opportunity to work with civil and military aircrew to address concerns such as fear of flying, low motivation and air sickness. Outside of work, I have a keen interest in music, dance and martial arts. I also enjoy a good run, cycling and swimming.

Why did you choose to become a therapist?

Although the subject has its unique attraction, the decision to become a therapist was the culmination of a personal exploration into the nuances of my personality. Each client is like a unique puzzle and the process of getting to the core and untangling the thread is something I find personally satisfying.

"I am so grateful to have connected with Anjana Thattil on Amaha. I was struggling with regular episodes of breakdowns and anxiety attacks and I didn’t think I had much hope till I came to Amaha, did a thorough search of their therapists, took a leap of faith, and reached out to Anjana. It’s been a couple of weeks with her and I couldn’t have made a better decision. Through our conversations, I have learned to identify my triggers better, understand underlying issues, and work towards them in a manner that best suits me. I feel so light being able to share my darkest thoughts without any judgement. It’s helped me be a better person. But best of all, Anjana and Amaha have given me the most amazing gift – hope! Hope for a happier healthier me! "- Anuradha
