Lavanya is a psychiatrist based in Bengaluru. She completed her postgraduate training in psychiatry at the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS), Bengaluru. She was awarded ‘Best Outgoing Resident’ and the medal for Best Performer in the qualifying exams for her DPM and MD. She completed her senior residency training and a post-doctoral fellowship in OCD and related disorders at NIMHANS. She then worked as an assistant professor in a research project with individuals with severe, medication-resistant OCD with the NIMHANS OCD Clinic before joining Amaha Health. She has extensive experience in working with individuals with a variety of psychological difficulties. However, her primary areas of interest are obsessive-compulsive disorder, body dysmorphic disorder, body-focused repetitive behavior Disorders, and anxiety disorders. She is experienced in cognitive behavior therapy and neuromodulation, including deep transcranial magnetic stimulation, somatic treatments such as ketamine infusions, and the psychiatric care of individuals who have undergone deep brain stimulation for treatment-refractory obsessive-compulsive disorder, in addition to pharmacotherapy. She believes strongly in evidence-based, ethical care that is personalized to fit the individual’s needs.
