About Amaha

Amaha, formerly named InnerHour, is a mental health organisation founded in the year 2016 by renowned psychiatrist and healthcare entrepreneur,
Dr. Amit Malik.

The organisation aims to create a mental health ecosystem that provides treatment and care plans for a range of mental health conditions like anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, ADHD, OCD, schizophrenia, and addictions.

In 2019, Ms. Neha Kirpal, a social entrepreneur and global mental health ambassador, joined Amaha as Co-founder.

The problem

India’s mental health is in a state of crisis. While 1 billion people around the world live with a mental health condition, India alone accounts for a third of the global burden of depression, addictions and suicides. India has the youngest population in the world - and yet, over 100 million children and youth have diagnosed mental health conditions.

Due to a combination of poor awareness, stigma, and lack of access to quality care, a person who is struggling with their mental health often does not receive the treatment and care they need to get better.

The Amaha solution

Amaha is transforming the way mental healthcare is delivered in India, by bringing together the latest science in clinical practice and modern technological tools to deliver the best outcome for each individual and family. Our integrated mental health ecosystem offers treatment, care and support for all kinds of mental health concerns.

Using the experience and expertise of our team of trained mental health professionals, we strive to ensure that each individual can navigate their mental healthcare journey seamlessly and easily.
No matter where you are in your mental health journey, Amaha will meet you there and partner with you - so you can feel better, get better, and stay better.
In 2022, with a vision to provide care across the lifespan - not only to the individual, but also to families, institutions and communities - Amaha acquired and joined hands with the reputed Delhi NCR-based Child and Adolescent Mental Health Institute, Children First, that has been providing support to 12,000+ families since its inception in 2008.

Our dream, together with the founders of Children First - Dr Amit Sen, Dr Shelja Sen and Dr Kavita Arora - is to create sustainable possibilities of quality mental healthcare for families, institutions and communities.

The Amaha approach

Our mission is simple - to help you feel better, get better and stay better.

Founder’s Note

In a country as large and underserved as India, I believe ensuring early access to high quality mental health services is critical for effective and lasting recovery.

At Amaha, our vision is to provide trusted mental healthcare in all our centres across India, as well as online from dawn to midnight - 365 days a year. We have worked hard over the years to ensure that mental healthcare is easily accessible, affordable, and driving real changes in the individual’s mental health outcomes.

We’re deeply invested in providing clients with access to coordinated, structured and scientific solutions through our comprehensive suite of mental health offerings.

From a 5-member team of people who spent sleepless nights building India’s leading mental health platform, we’re now a group of 200+ who live and breathe mental health and are working relentlessly to create an ecosystem that offers quality care - anytime, anywhere.

Amaha does not deal with medical or psychological emergencies. We are not designed to offer support in crisis situations - including when an individual is experiencing thoughts of self-harm or suicide, or is showing symptoms of severe clinical disorders such as schizophrenia and other psychotic conditions. In these cases, in-person medical intervention is the most appropriate form of help.

If you feel you are experiencing any of these difficulties, we would urge you to seek help at the nearest hospital or emergency room where you can connect with a psychiatrist, social worker, counsellor or therapist in person. We recommend you to involve a close family member or a friend who can offer support.

You can also reach out to a suicide hotline in your country of residence: http://www.healthcollective.in/contact/helplines
